Pakistani wrestlers take home two more medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games

Mohammad Sharif Tahir and Ali Asad, two Pakistani wrestlers, won silver and bronze medals on Saturday to advance their country to the Commonwealth Games in 2022.

In the Men’s Freestyle 74kg wrestling competition, Tahir lost to India’s Naveen Naveen and took home the silver medal, while Asad defeated New Zealand’s Suraj Singh in just 55 seconds to take home the bronze medal in the Men’s Freestyle 57kg division.

As his bitter adversary Naveen scored nine straight technical points to win the match, Sharif was unable to counteract his counterattacks.

Along with his fellow countrymen Inam Butt and Zaman Anwar, he helped Pakistan win a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2022.

Asad, meantime, displayed excellent gripping skills when he grabbed Singh by the legs and rolled him off the mat for 10 points. As the score stood at 11-0, Asad was awarded the bronze medal.

The Indian wrestler Kumar Ravi defeated the Pakistani wrestler in the semifinals.
Pakistan holds three bronze medals from the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022.
In the multi-sport competition, the wrestler Inayatullah (62 kg) and the judoka Hussain Shah previously won bronze medals.

Five of the six wrestlers who competed at the Commonwealth Games 2022 took home medals, while Tayab Raza will wrestle later today in the Men’s Freestyle 90kg bronze medal match.
