Asia Cup begin
A top qualifier will join India and Pakistan in Group A of the main T20 Asia Cup competition.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) today released the qualification schedule for the 2022 Asia Cup, which will begin on August 20 in Oman.
On August 20, Singapore will play host to Hong Kong in the first game. Two more teams competing in the qualifications are from Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
The Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Al Amerat will host the games.
A top qualifier will join India and Pakistan in Group A. It will move on to the main T20 Asia Cup competition.
Pankaj Khimji, vice president of the ACC and chairman of Oman Cricket, made the following statement: “We are honored to have been selected to host the Asia Cup 2022 qualifying matches. We guarantee that Oman will provide the best hospitality and facilities for all of the teams competing in the Qualifiers. We also express our gratitude to ACC and SLC for choosing Oman as the location for the qualifiers of ACC’s flagship event.”
Starting on August 27, the main event will feature Afghanistan vs. the hosts Sri Lanka. On August 28 India and Pakistan will compete in a thrilling match in Dubai.
The second location for the Asian event until September 11 is Sharjah.
