The company unveiled the Samsung Foldable Phone Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4, as well as Samsung’s newest wristwatch, the Galaxy Watch 5 at the most recent Galaxy Unpacked event.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is now the most powerful foldable phone on the market, although it only represents a slight improvement over the previous model.
This time around, there is more display surface with reduced bezels and a slightly more manageable 23:9 aspect ratio. The outside display is a 6.2-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and with 832 x 2268 pixels resolution. Both screens include 1200 nits of maximum brightness, HDR10+, Stylus compatibility, and Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection. Additionally, there is IPX8 water resistance.
Sadly, the Fold 4 doesn’t feature a separate storage area for the S-Pen. Instead, you can slide it into the case that Samsung will provide for free.
Internals and Storage
One of the more noticeable improvements from last year is the SoC of the phone. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC this year. An upgraded model of the SD8G1 processor. There isn’t a memory card port with the limited storage to 1TB with up to 12GB of RAM.
The phone will start up with Android 12 and One UI 4.2 on top. A “taskbar” has been added to the inner display’s user interface by Samsung, making it more reminiscent of Windows or the Mac. Along with a recent applications button, it offers your favorite apps and app combinations (which can run up to three apps simultaneously).
Cameras
There is an improvement in main camera configuration as compared to the previous year. Instead of a 12MP camera, you now get a 50MP main sensor (from the S22 series). It is coupled with a 10MP telephoto lens that supports 3x optical zoom and 30s spatial zoom, as well as a 12MP ultrawide camera. Despite the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1’s ability to shoot 8K footage as well, you are still only able to record in 4K at 60 frames per second.
The under-display selfie camera, as previously reported, is now less noticeable than before, however, it only has a 4MP lens. Instead, a 10MP camera is located on the outside screen.
Battery and Pricing
No alteration in battery specifications. The 4,400 mAh battery is still the same and supports 25W wired charging. And 11W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging so you can charge your accessories while the phone is being charged.
The color possibilities for the Samsung Foldable Phone Galaxy Z Fold 4 are Beige, Phantom Black, and Gray Green. The 12GB RAM/256GB storage version will cost $1,800 as a starting price.
