Brady supposed Vegas UFC president Jon Gruden proposal:. When quarterback Tom Brady became a free agent in 2020, UFC president Dana White claimed to have assisted in brokering a contract for Brady to play with the Las Vegas Raiders. However, Raiders coach Jon Gruden abruptly canceled the deal.
Rob Gronkowski persuaded White to share the tale on Saturday night’s “UFC with the Gronks” broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+ for UFC 278.

In order for Brady and Gronk to join the Raiders, “I tried to put together that deal,” White claimed. “We finalized it virtually. And then, at the last second, Gruden threw the deal up by declaring that he didn’t want him, which caused all kinds of havoc. It was absurd.
“Brady had already started looking at homes. Gronk didn’t confirm his arrival. So, had Gruden not blown the agreement, Las Vegas would have had Brady and Gronk the year the Bucs won the Super Bowl.”
“There’s so much story that goes with this behind the scenes,” White continued.

The Raiders fired Gruden in October 2021. Brady became a free agent in 2020. And ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter stated that the Raiders would be interested in signing him if he became available. He did, but in the end chose to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where that year he won the Super Bowl.
Gronkowski may have joined the Raiders, according to White. However, Gronkowski was still bound to the New England Patriots at the time. In April of that year, the Patriots finally sent Gronkowski to Tampa Bay.
Gronkowski, who posed White’s first query, did express his satisfaction with how events transpired.
On the program, Gronkowski stated, “I’m happy it didn’t go through. “Man, everything turned out for the best. Man, I’m happy that we visited Tampa. It simply worked out. I adore that location.”
On Saturday night, messages left for Brady’s agent Don Yee and the Raiders’ reps went unanswered.
Brady has been the quarterback for the Buccaneers for three seasons, but he hasn’t participated in training camp this preseason. The quarterback for Las Vegas is still Derek Carr, who completed 67.3% of his throws in 2020 for 4,103 yards, 27 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, and 68.4% of them in 2021 for 4,804 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
Prior to Gronkowski’s question, White claimed he had no intention of sharing that particular tale.
