KARACHI: The most lethal opening duo for Pakistan, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan, will pose the most threat to India. When the two teams square off in a titanic Asia Cup match on August 28 in Dubai (tomorrow).
Asia Cup Opener
Tomorrow at 7 o’clock (Pakistan time), the two close neighbors will square off in the Asia Cup. The two countries have a tumultuous cricketing past.
India will play it safe in the eagerly awaited championship match in Asia Cup after being routed by a massive margin of ten wickets by the Green Shirts in the T20 World Cup match on October 24, 2021, last year in Dubai.
And India would find it difficult to dash Pakistan’s ambitions in Asia Cup. Their opening duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan will pose a serious threat to the Indians in Asia Cup. The Green Shirts, who have developed excellent T20 cricket credentials over the years, can duplicate their World Cup victory from a year ago against India.
Rizwan is unquestionably the most dangerous T20 player the world has produced in recent years, with Babar having established his dominance as the most dependable batter in all three formats with astounding regularity. Both will be lethal in Asia Cup.
Given their extensive playing history together. Both players are adept at managing any top attack with enviable ease when opening the T20 format innings. Rizwan is ruthless when it is his day, in contrast to Babar’s graceful demeanor. India, one of the hot favorites in the six-nation competition, will face a serious threat from the contracting characters in Asia Cup.
Both of them could win the match if they bat for a few overs in Asia Cup. In addition to being extremely trustworthy, both players are familiar with one another. And can exert significant pressure on the Indians with their singles and twos, which are occasionally required in T20 cricket.
Despite his inconsistent results in the lengthier format, Rizwan has consistently displayed a killer instinct in T20 cricket. His most recent employment with Sussex confirms this. He will display good cricket in Asia Cup.
Rizwan had a fantastic year in 2021, scoring 1,326 runs in 26 innings, including 12 fifty-pluses and one hundred. Additionally, he was the batter who, to date, scored the most runs in the format in a single calendar year.
And in the 2021 T20 World Cup, the wicket-keeper batsman from Peshawar will try to improve on his heroics from the previous game. Babar scored the second-most runs in T20 cricket in 2021, after Rizwan. He has dominated cricket for the past two years or so, and he has never indicated that he is changing up his game.
