Beijing’s foreign ministry said Friday that Chinese President Xi Jinping will go to Russia the following week. This will be his first trip to Moscow in over four years. President Xi Jinping will go to Russia from March 20 to 22, at the request of Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, the ministry announced.
Although Putin attended the Winter Olympics opening ceremony in Beijing last year. And the two leaders also had a meeting at a regional security conference in Uzbekistan in September. The previous visit of Jinping to Russia was in 2019. The two will discuss “strategic collaboration,” the Kremlin said almost simultaneously.

The visit will take place barely over a year after Moscow invaded nearby Ukraine.
